Designed to prepare beginners for careers in Pre-Engineered Buildings (PEB), Sheeting Detailing, and Tekla Modeling.

Training Philosophy: 30% Theory + 70% Practical

The focus is on developing practical skills rather than only software knowledge.

Month 1 PEB & Software Fundamentals Weeks 1–4
Week 1

Introduction to PEB

What is Pre-Engineered Building?, PEB vs conventional steel buildings, PEB industry and project workflow, Types of PEB buildings, Primary and secondary structural members, Columns and rafters, Purlins and girts, Bracing, Eave struts, Base plates, Stiffeners, Bolts and welds, PEB terminology, Cladding/Sheeting, Flashing/Trims, Fasteners/Screws.

Week 2

Structural Steel & Drawing Reading

Structural steel sections, Built-up sections, Plates and stiffeners, Bolts and welds, Structural drawings, Plan/elevation/section, Grid lines, Levels and dimensions, Connection details, Welding symbols, Revision drawings, Understanding design drawings before modelling.

Week 3

AutoCAD

Focus: reading and basic creation of PEB drawings

AutoCAD interface, Layers, Units, Drawing commands, Modify commands, Dimensions, Blocks, Sections, Hatching, Layouts, Printing, Reading PEB GA drawings.

Practical: create a basic PEB plan/elevation/section.

Week 4

Tekla Fundamentals

Tekla interface, Project setup, Grid creation, Levels, Profiles, Materials, Views, Selection filters, Work planes, Creating columns, Creating rafters, Plates, Stiffeners, Basic editing.

Practical Project 1: model a basic PEB frame in Tekla.

Month 2 Tekla PEB Modeling & Detailing Weeks 5–8
Week 5

Primary Frame Modeling

Columns, Rafters, Built-up members, Hot Rolled Members, Splices, Base plates, Stiffeners, End plates, Frame geometry, Multiple frame modelling.

Week 6

Secondary Members

Purlins, Girts, Eave struts, Roof bracing, Wall bracing, Sag rods/Sag Angles, End wall framing, Framed Openings (Bolted Openings, Welded Openings).

Week 7

Tekla Connections

Bolted connections, Welded connections, Column-base connections, Rafter connections, Splice connections, Bracing connections, Purlin/girt connections, Stiffener connections, Tekla components, Connection parameters, Connection checking.

Week 8

Complete PEB Modeling

Students build a complete multi-bay building. Project includes main frames, secondary framing, bracing, endwalls, connections, openings, canopy (introduction), and building accessories — Man Doors, Over Head Doors (Roll up Doors, Vertical Lift Doors), Hanger Doors — plus model organization.

Practical Project 2: complete a multi-bay PEB model.

Month 3 Drawings, Fabrication & Placement Weeks 9–12
Week 9

Tekla Numbering & Drawings

Numbering: part numbering, assembly numbering, position numbers, numbering settings, numbering errors.

GA Drawings: plans, elevations, sections, dimensions, grid lines, levels, marks.

Assembly Drawings: views, dimensions, bolts, welds, part marks, notes.

Single-Part Drawings: plates, built-up members, individual components, cutting information.

Week 10

BOM & Fabrication

Bill of Materials, material reports, assembly lists, part lists, weight, bolt lists, weld information, NC/DSTV concepts, CNC fabrication workflow, shop drawing requirements, fabrication terminology.

MS Excel: basic engineering calculations, material/BOM data, sorting/filtering, basic formulas.

Week 11

QA/QC & Industry Workflow

Model Checking: member orientation, correct profiles, materials, connections, bolts, welds, missing members, duplicate members.

Drawing Checking: dimensions, marks, sections, bolts, welds, material information, drawing/model consistency.

Week 12

Final Project + Placement

Final Industry Project — each student completes a complete PEB project following the workflow:

Students who successfully complete the required training, assessments, and final project receive:

Before You Enrol

Eligibility

Do I need any Tekla experience before joining?

No. The course is at beginner level. Tekla is taught from the interface up in Week 4, after three weeks on PEB fundamentals, drawing reading and AutoCAD.

I have never used AutoCAD either. Can I still join?

Yes. AutoCAD is taught in Week 3, starting from the interface, before any Tekla modelling begins.

I studied mechanical engineering, not civil. Is this course for me?

Yes. Mechanical engineering graduates and mechanical diploma engineers are among the students the course is designed for, alongside civil and structural graduates.

I am in my final year and still waiting for results. Can I join?

Yes. Final-year students awaiting results can join, as can working professionals and anyone moving into detailing from another field.

Schedule and Format

What are the timings?

The founding batch runs 5 days a week, 7 hours a day, for 12 weeks.

Is the course online or in a classroom?

Classroom only. The founding batch is taught on-site at IT SEZ, Mouri Tech Building, Visakhapatnam.

When does the batch start, and how many seats are there?

The founding batch starts on 5 October 2026, with 15 seats.

How much of the course is hands-on?

70% of the training is practical and 30% is theory. You complete three projects: a basic PEB frame in Week 4, a complete multi-bay PEB model in Week 8, and a final industry project in Week 12.

What You Learn

Which software will I learn?

AutoCAD, Tekla Structures and MS Excel. AutoCAD is used to read and create basic PEB drawings, Tekla Structures to model and detail the building, and Excel for engineering calculations and BOM data.

Does the course go beyond 3D modelling?

Yes. After modelling you learn connections (Week 7), numbering with GA, assembly and single-part drawings (Week 9), bills of materials and the CNC fabrication workflow (Week 10), and model and drawing checking (Week 11).

Does it cover sheeting and cladding?

Yes. Cladding and sheeting, flashing and trims, and fasteners are covered in Week 1. Building accessories such as man doors and overhead doors are part of the complete PEB model in Week 8.

What will I have to show employers at the end?

Your final industry project: a complete PEB job taken from input drawings through the Tekla model, connections, numbering, drawings, BOM and QA/QC. It becomes part of your professional portfolio.

Certification and Placement

What certificates will I receive?

Two. The STEEL Certificate of Industry-Oriented Training, on completing the training, assessments and final project; and the Tekla Authorised Certificate, on passing the Tekla Certification Exam.

How am I assessed?

Continuously, across the course. Tekla modelling carries 30%; PEB theory, connections and detailing, and drawings and BOM carry 15% each; AutoCAD and the final project 10% each; and interview skills 5%. The Tekla Certification Exam is sat separately.

Is placement guaranteed?

For the founding batch, yes, on a clear condition: score 85% or above in the Tekla Certification Exam and your placement is guaranteed through STEEL.

Below that mark there is no guarantee, and we would rather say so plainly. You still receive the full placement support, and it continues after the course ends.

What placement support does every student get?

CV and portfolio guidance, mock interviews and introductions to employers during the course, with guidance on suitable openings continuing after it ends. How placement support works.

What does the course cost, and can I pay in instalments?

The fee is shared in your free career consultation. You can pay in full, in a two-part instalment or in monthly instalments; the split and due dates are confirmed with you directly.
